Pupillage Application Process The application deadline for 12-month pupillages commencing in October 2027 is managed on the pupillage gateway. Applications must therefore be made in accordance with the timetable and process set out on the Gateway.   Key Dates First-round interviews: IN MARCH/APRIL 2027 Second-round interviews: IN APRIL 2027 Offers made: In accordance with Pupillage Gateway timetable Deadline for acceptance: In accordance with Pupillage Gateway timetable First Six During your first six months, you will be allocated a dedicated pupil supervisor who will support you throughout your training and be available to answer any questions you may have.   You will regularly attend court with your supervisor, observing a wide range of hearings across the Magistrates’ Court, Crown Court, and specialist tribunals. Where particularly significant or interesting matters arise, you may also accompany other members of chambers in order to broaden your exposure to different advocacy styles, case types, and areas of criminal practice. This varied court attendance is designed to build confidence, deepen legal understanding, and provide practical insight into the day-to-day realities of life at the Bar.   Second Six In your second six, you will begin to develop your own practice and be on your feet in court. Pupils can expect to undertake advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court, regulatory hearings, and, where appropriate, hearings in the Crown Court, representing both lay and professional clients. Your progress will be closely monitored by your second six supervisor, with regular meetings involving both your supervisor and the clerking team. This ensures that your caseload develops at the right pace, your advocacy skills continue to grow, and your practice is shaped in a way that supports both confidence and long-term success.   Earnings and Path to Tenancy Rose Court Chambers is committed to ensuring that pupils are financially supported while building their practice and provide guaranteed earnings. Full details of guaranteed earnings during first six and second six, together with expectations around advocacy, case preparation, professional development, and the tenancy application process, are provided to all successful candidates at the outset of pupillage.
