Erin Kitson-Parker is a criminal barrister with a broad and well-established practice spanning serious criminal defence and prosecution in the Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court. Erin is regularly instructed in complex criminal matters involving vulnerable witnesses, serious violence, sexual offences, drugs and dishonesty offences. She is known for her meticulous preparation, persuasive advocacy and clear, client-focused approach.
Erin obtained a First-Class Honours degree and a Master’s degree in Law from Northumbria University in 2017. She continues to mentor students undertaking the Bar Practice Training Course (BPTC), reflecting her commitment to the profession and legal education.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Erin worked for the Ministry of Justice, becoming one of the youngest legal advisers in the country. In this role, she advised Magistrates across North Yorkshire on criminal procedure, evidential issues and points of law during trials. This background provides Erin with a strong tactical understanding of court process and judicial decision-making, which she applies to her advocacy.
Since qualifying, Erin has developed a busy criminal practice. While the majority of her work is criminal defence, she is also regularly instructed by the Crown Prosecution Service, including for Complex Case Unit matters. In 2024, Erin obtained her Direct Access qualification and accepts instructions directly from members of the public in appropriate criminal and civil matters.
Erin is recognised for her effective communication with both professional and lay clients. She is approachable, responsive and committed to ensuring that clients are fully advised at every stage of proceedings.
